our main line of action

We have helped to protect more than 14.000 hectares
in more than 100 wetlands.

Wetlands are one of the most important ecosystems for the conservation of biodiversity: more than 40% of threatened species are believed to depend on wetlands at one point or another of their biological cycle. In Spain, it has been calculated that 60% of these areas have been lost over the last hundred years.

We develop each action through the creation of alliances with local collectives (landowners, farmers, etc.) and administrations in order to generate opportunities for social and economic development in rural settings. We belong to the international network Living Lakes.

We create alliances and promote innovation to ensure conservation and development

Sustainability is a shared responsibility and the conservation of our natural heritage involves finding benefits for all stakeholders living in side by side.

We restore and protect the marsh vegetation of wetlands in Castilla León, Castilla La Mancha and Comunidad Valencia to guarantee a suitable habitat for the Aquatic warbler (Acrocephalus paludicola) and to halt the decline of its populations.

15th International Conference on Lakes and Wetlands. Living Lakes is an international network with more than 100 lakes active in five continents. In 2019, Living Lakes took place in Valencia to celebrate the 15th International Conference on Lakes and Wetlands, with L’Albufera as host wetland and Fundación Global Nature as organizer.
