The integration of biodiversity in agro-food standards

There are now more than 400 food standards in Europe and most of these standards do not include biodiversity conservation actions, indicators or measures. The LIFE Food & Biodiversity project aims to generate the entire body of knowledge for certifiers who can then go to the field and certify that a measure of biodiversity is being met, and for the farmer so he can take measures to conserve biodiversity.

Think tank with communication and biodiversity experts

The LIFE Food & Biodiversity project organized a Think Tank to debate among experts on communication and biodiversity, how to transfer to the consumer that up to now, agri-food standards and certifications, such as designations of origin or the seal of organic farming, have not yet incorporated aspects of biodiversity

How can quality standards help protect nature?

The LIFE Food & Biodiversity project organized a think tank of experts in the agri-food and environmental communication sector to analyze how to communicate to media that there are standards in the agri-food sector that contribute to preserve biodiversity. Only in the EU there are more than 400 food standards; although 20% of the food we eat in Spain is ultra-processed.

VinoDiversidad: the value of biodiversity in the vineyard

The project LIFE Food & Biodiversity has organized a workshop to share with winegrowers and wineries the value of biodiversity both at the level of commercialization and its inclusion in the entire production chain. The advantages of including biodiversity in the practice of farmers and companies means cost reduction, greater opportunities through differentiated commercialization or more consumer demand.
