The celebration of the 15th International Conference on Lakes and Wetlands is a unique opportunity to get to know l’Albufera, one of the most symbolic wetlands of Spain, and its surroundings. The Fundación Global Nature has organized several visits of tourist and ecological interest for those attending the congress. Some are part of the official program of the event while others are optional and are outside the congress activities.

VISIT OF FIELD TO L’ALBUFERA (INCLUDED IN THE CONGRESS)
Hours: 09.00 – 17.00 h.
Boat trip around L’Albufera
Guided tour of the Tancat de la Pipa green filter, which aims to take advantage of the purification capacity of the wetlands to clean the waters of the lagoon. The Tancat de la Pipa is an example of cooperation between administrations, NGOs and universities
GUIDED VISIT TO THE CITY OF VALENCIA AT NIGHT (INCLUDED IN THE CONGRESS)
FRIDAY 10TH MAY
BIRDS AND WINE: VISIT TO THE “SERRA DE MARIOLA” (EXCURSION NOT INCLUDED IN THE CONGRESS)
Hours: 08.00 – 18.00 h.
The visit offers a different experience, which combines bird watching with the tasting of premium organic wines. A very special pairing in the region of El Comtat (Alicante) in the surroundings of the Albufera de Gaianes.
SATURDAY, MAY 11
VISIT TO MARJAL DELS MOROS (EXCURSION NOT INCLUDED IN THE CONGRESS)
Hours: 08.30 – 13.30 h.
The Marjal dels Moros is a wetland included in the NATURA 2000 NETWORK, which has an area of special protection for birds (ZEPA) for its extraordinary value and ornithological interest. Despite its small size, it is one of the most important protected areas for waterfowl in the province of Valencia with very different habitats ranging from the beach to the interior lagoons, passing through small underbrush.
