Environmental impact and agricultural waste in Spain

Agricultural intensification has led to many environmental impacts which have not been solved so far, as it happens with agricultural residues.

FGN is cooperating with SIGFITO for analyzing the problem of agricultural waste management and its impacts on the environment and the farming activity itself.

The project wants to focus on the residues that currently have no defined management schemes, for stressing that private and public alliances will be needed in the future for getting to solutions and for claiming a sustainable agricultural production.

This cooperation is established in 2 phases. A first one devoted to the diagnosis of the current agricultural waste management, the environmental risks and the compilation of case studies. And a second phase for working on a roadmap to reduce as much as possible the environmental impacts, identifying needs and highlighting the lessons learnt into a manual for the sector.
