Regenerative livestock farming is a natural ally for the restoration of degraded soils, combating climate change and promoting rural development. PASTURE+ is an opportunity to implement good agro-livestock farming practices in Mediterranean pastures, dehesa pastures and mountain pastures under a holistic approach.
The objective is to evaluate the integrated management of two experimental herds on farms located in natural areas of special ecological interest. To this end, the project aims to develop a training programme on holistic management, grazing planning, ecological monitoring and processing and marketing of products of high environmental value.
In addition, PASTURE+ proposes the creation of a network of producers of good livestock farming practices, evaluating the effects of the actions carried out in at least 36 pilot farms, both at an economic and productive level and from an environmental point of view. The quality of derived products (meat, milk and wool) will also be validated through the PASTURE standard based on the verification of ecological results in order to differentiate products in the market.
