Biodiversity Action Plan Mas de Colom – Borges International Group

Mas de Colom is a demonstrative 67 ha farm located in Natura 2000 and property of Borges International Group. In this farm, almond, walnut, pistachio and olive trees are grown. We intend to demonstrate that working hand by hand with biodiversity in agricultural lands offers great opportunities from an agronomic, economic and social perspective.

Therefore, we develop a Biodiversity Action Plan that tackles the agronomic dimension of the farm (UAA), the non-productive surfaces of interest for biodiversity (semi-natural habitats), and the socio-economic dimension of the company (workshops).

This Biodiversity Action Plan includes measures such as: implementation of green covers, fallow land in key locations, post-harvest nitrogen balance, organic matter application, decision-support tools for water management, monitoring of key biodiversity groups, diversification of semi-natural habitats with native trees and fruit trees in risk of disappearance, or workshops for technicians, employees and their families, among many other actions.

Furthermore, we support the implementation of the Biodiversity Action Plan so that its agronomic, social and economic benefits, as well as its demonstrative character have the potential of being replicated in other productive farms and sensitize technicians and the general public about the importance of agrarian biodiversity.
