ABSTRACT

Natural spaces and biodiversity together form a source of resources and environmental services that support our quality of life. Mediterranean wetlands are also a sign of identity in our territory. Their preservation and good conservation status concern us all, and finding new business and employment opportunities linked to good practices in their management is a social objective in which all actors involved, the so-called five helixes: the public sector, the private sector, academia, civil society, and the media, can participate,

The conservation of biodiversity, society’s orderly access to nature and climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies offer new employment opportunities linked to a sustainable economy and a change in the production model through the promotion of activities with a high environmental content.

This session will analyse, in addition to the evolution of jobs traditionally related to environmental care, other emerging sectors derived from the implementation of environmental policies and sustainability strategies, with special attention given to the employability related to the conservation and management of Mediterranean wetlands. Consolidated institutions in the field of green job creation will participate and innovative projects in green entrepreneurship and eco-innovation will also be included.
