LIFE MULTI PEAT

To reduce GHG emissions by restoring the sequestering functions of 689 ha of degraded peatlands in Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Ireland and Poland.
To contribute to scaling up peatland restoration in the EU.

In addition to the restoration of 689 ha of degraded peatlands in 5 countries, the project will assess the GHG impact combining various techniques (chamber measurements, remote sensing, GEST), as well as create a toolkit to catalogue selected EU peatland projects, policies and data.
Moreover, LIFE Multi Peat will verify the potential for creation of carbon credits relating to Carbon farming and create a concept for paludiculture as buffer zones of restored peatlands in Germany and Belgium.
