To contribute to scaling up peatland restoration in the EU.
In addition to the restoration of 689 ha of degraded peatlands in 5 countries, the project will assess the GHG impact combining various techniques (chamber measurements, remote sensing, GEST), as well as create a toolkit to catalogue selected EU peatland projects, policies and data.
Moreover, LIFE Multi Peat will verify the potential for creation of carbon credits relating to Carbon farming and create a concept for paludiculture as buffer zones of restored peatlands in Germany and Belgium.
