Sustainable pest management

We collaborate with the LIFE Waste4Green project which has as its main goal the mitigation of the negative effects on the environment and human health of chemical pesticides currently used in stone fruit orchards. In order to achieve that, the project is working on developing new natural, safe and sustainable formulates, which will be tested on pilot farms. The active matters for the formulates will be obtained from agri-waste sub-products (e.g. crop residues or aromatic plants). The new products will be commercialized in the EU after the end of the project.

Together with the National Agri-food Technological Centre of Extremadura – CTAEX (Badajoz), project partner in charge of assessing the effectivity of the new formulates as well as their impacts on yields, we perform several monitoring activities on the field with biodiversity and climate change indicators integrated in tools specifically designed and tested for that purpose.
