Sustainable sourcing

provide food sustainably is a current challenge as big as protecting nature and facing climate change

we work on the ground

Health, farming and nature are linked. Our work is based on an integral vision: to produce healthy food for the protection of human health and for the protection of the Planet.

We work with farmers and agri food companies in the elaboration of Sustainable Sourcing Guides and Protocols.

From farm to fork we promote the integration of biodiversity and climate change in sustainable farming, working with productions such as cereal, wine, olives, almonds and pistachios products, fruits and vegetables and livestock production.

INITIATIVES

Our model encourage companies to adopt sustainable practices and to integrate sustainability information into their reporting cycle

Sustainability is a shared responsibility and the conservation of our natural heritage involves finding benefits for all stakeholders living in side by side. Collaboration, integration and participation are the key words for us.

Responsible policies

Nestle’s Responsible Sourcing program for vegetables is intended to reduce the impact of agricultural practices on the environment within Nestlé’s processed vegetables supply chain.

We are a Nestlé’s strategic partner for the implementation of the Nestle’s Responsible Sourcing program for the processed vegetables supply chain in Europe, North Africa and Middle East.

We also work with Nestlé’s dairy farms in Spain on their goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2050.

Agri food standards

We are committed to food standards and labels as tools for integrating biodiversity. We work with numerous companies to strengthen their production standards, and to incorporate measures and indicators that verify their commitment.

Denomination of Origin (PDO) and Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) can add criteria to better inform consumers demanding not only quality but also protection of nature. We are committed to Organic Farming as a basis for the responsible use of natural resources and biodiversity enhancement.

Internal Protocols

With Calidad Pascual we have worked out 35 agri-environmental criteria to be part of the company’s protocol for dairy sourcing, implemented in 100% of their supplier farms since 2018.

Furthermore, we have trained the technicians to implement the criteria. The participants of this training highlighted how important is to integrate sustainability in the business strategy on several fronts as the environmental need or as answer to clients and consumers demands.
