Climate change

We identify and assess measures for mitigation and adaptation to climate change

we work with the agricultural sector to address the need to mitigate and adapt to unavoidable climate change

On the one hand, the farming sector is a source of GHG emissions but on the other, it can play a key role in mitigating climate change. Furthermore, it will suffer negative impacts of climate change.

We work on the identification and assessment of those mitigation and adaptation to climate change measures in the farming sector that allow creating environmental, social and economic benefits.

A low carbon farming activity can represent an opportunity to improve competitiveness, reduce costs and anticipate legal changes. It also improves food security and can contribute to preserving the environment. Increasing carbon sequestration in soils through management improvement or through organic matter incorporation programs improve sequestration capacity and adaptation to climate change.

OUTSTANDING PROJECTS

We create alliances and promote innovation to ensure conservation and development

Sustainability is a shared responsibility and the conservation of our natural heritage involves finding benefits for all stakeholders living in side by side.

We test sustainable measures for adaptation to climate change in most important farming systems in the EU with a decision-supporting tool to assess key Agro-Climatic data of the different crops and the resilience of the assessed systems.

We work with olive growers to facilitate their adaptation to climate change, the reduction of GHG emissions, sustainability improvements and good practices in olive crops.

We collaborate with research centres and with agrifood companies to increase the resilience of olive groves and its capacity to host biodiversity.
