International presence

International presence

Nature protection is a huge and crosscutting task to all human activities, it goes beyond specific locations. Beyond the characteristics of each territory our work has also an international presence with the aim of combining efforts to achieve better results.

Europe

We collaborate with large European and international companies such as Nestlé in the development of specific actions. In this case, we are developing sourcing protocols for different products (tomato, potato, persil, etc).

We also develop projects in collaboration with entities throughout Europe. Some of these projects are supported by the European Commission through different instruments such as LIFE, GRundtvig, Erasmus +, etc. We are currently implementing projects in collaboration with entities in Germany, France, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic or Romania.

The most recent projects are LIFE BioStandards, LIFE AgriAdapt or LISA.

Development cooperation

Our commitment to sustainable development also includes areas that share the same environmental problems, which are ofter aggravated by socio-political aspects. We work on initiatives aimed at achieving the Sustainable Development Objectives of the United Nations. We have developed projects in Colombia, Paraguay, the Dominican Republic, Morocco, Mozambique, Senegal, the Philippines or Sri Lanka.

Our work focuses on different areas for priority actions:

  • Conservation and sustainable management of ecosystemts, especially wetlands
  • Sustainable tourism
  • Local economic development and fair trade
  • Promotion of new technologies for water treatment and supply, like artificial wetlands
  • Reinforcement of the local communities for a sustainable management of natural resources.
We currently develop a Project on the “Reinforcement of local communities for the Sustainable Management of Fresh Water in Mbaracayú (Paraguay)”.

We work in collaboration with other NGO such as  Arquitects without Borders,  with whom we have worked since 2004.

Our activity is also supported by local actors (such as  Fundación Moisés Bertoni in Paraguay), international networks  ( such as the cooperation network between lakes and wetlands “Living Lakes”) and many other entities such as the Spanish Cooperation Agency (AECID), the Extremadura International Cooperation Agency for Development (AEXCID), Madrid City Council,  The Asian Development Bank, Cemex Dominicana, Cáceres Regional Government, Palencia Regional Government, Fondo Extremeño Local de Cooperación al Desarrollo (FELCODE), Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food and Environment, Fundación Eroski,  Fundación ICO,  Canaries Regional Government,  Castilla-La Mancha Regional Governmnent, Rapunzel, UNESCO-Extremadura.
